This documents has been the guiding principles for Our Circle's work. Our Circle would like to thank COC Nederland, MC Consultancy: Sexual Health and Development, and all the community organizations and members that participated in this comprehensive community needs assessment. We look forward to the continued growth and success of our community as a result in 2017.
Same-Sex Couples Baseline DemographicsOur Circle has embarked on a project designed to aid the LGBT community in understanding and minimizing the effects of social inequality in Belize. As an introduction to this initiative, Our Circle conducted a baseline survey in which they engaged sixty-one (61) LGBT persons in Belize, fifty-two (52) of whom were part of same sex couples residing in Belize. Please note, this report captures only a percentage of the LGBT same sex couples in Belize, as the survey collection period was three weeks. The data was collected via online survey and does not reflect the entirety of the LGBT same sex couples in Belize. This report acts as baseline information and calls for further research into the dynamics of same sex couples in Belize.
Legal Handbook for LGBT BelizeansThis Handbook was created in 2017 because of the fact that the legal barriers which exist in Belize regarding same-sex couples has psychological ramifications. However, there are steps that can be taken to protect the LGBT community, even if their relationships aren’t recognized.

Demographic Portrait of LGBT Families in Belize! SurveyOur Circle's team launched its 𝘿𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙝𝙞𝙘 𝙋𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙇𝙂𝘽𝙏 𝙁𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝘽𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙯𝙚! Survey geared towards the strengthening of social systems which exist in Belize, as it relates to the LGBT community in Belize.
Since 2013, Our Circle has been working to improve the quality of life and access to opportunity for LGBT persons and families of LGBT persons ensuring a socially inclusive Belize. One of our biggest learning points so far is that, effective policy making requires a sound evidence base. This means getting the experiences and the way of life directly from the people who are affected by the policies. This survey aimed to develop a better understanding of the LGBT-led families in Belize and produce basic demographic information to support the claims of exclusivity within the legal, political and social atmosphere in Belize.
