International Family Equality Day (IFED) celebrates the diversity of LGBTQ families around the world, and takes place every year on the first Sunday in May.
More and more children are growing up in families where one or both of their parents identify as LGBTQ. Yet, each of these “rainbow families” have very different experiences, based on what country they live in. Some "rainbow families" enjoy equal rights and social recognition; however, in far too many other countries parents and their children face live under a constant threat of violence.
By celebrating International Family Equality Day (IFED), Our Circle and our partners across the globe raise awareness among politicians and the general public about the need for equal treatment and recognition for all families, regardless of the sexual orientation or gender identity of their family’s members. IFED events don't have to be a big political statement, or even a formal gathering it can be a picnic in the park, a beach day, or a play date. Please be sure to check this page for information about IFED2019 or contact us if you’re interested in planning a celebration in your area! |
